Lots of lifted florals here, including violets, lavender, eucalyptus and sage with a hint of roasted cinnamon, which end abruptly, but quite suavely. Lithe and elegant, this is a subtle yet fruity syrah with a firm backbone of tannins and steely resolve. Drink now.

"An easygoing and juicy wine: closer to Chianti than to Montalcino or Montepulciano for its agility and fragrance of the fruit, but with relax and aromatic exuberance from Val d'Orcia. Tonic and tasty, floral and slightly spicy, it's best on a plate of tagliolini with black summer truffles, but it is a passepartout for a large part of the local cuisine."
